Rubik's Solution

rubiks scrambled rubiks solved

Ever wonder how it is possible to solve a rubiks cube? Well it's time to find out how. A common misconception is that the Rubiks Cube is solved by side, or color (however you want to word it), and by doing this you will always fail. A Rubiks Cube (like any other math equation) is solved in steps. Now, first thing to establish is the basic concept of the cube.

A Rubiks Cube is a set of pieces held together on an axle. Which means all the center pieces are a pivot point. Thinking logicly, if they are an axle, they will always be in the same spot. Meaning, on a modern cube, the rules will always be:

  • Red across from Orange
  • Blue across from Green
  • White across from Yellow
Centers Centers
Meaning that those colors are opposite sides on a cube. So this means, if the center is white, then that side will be the white side. The centers establish the side's color.

With that established there are 2 types of other pieces. Edges and Corners. Observe:

Corner Edge

Now with that basic principle established it is time to learn about the method of solving the cube. This Method is the most widely used, and the fastest. You will notice 2 different routes for this, one leads to the simple solution, the other leads to the better solution. Both work but the better solution is faster, and better to be used as an advanced application.

Note the Cube is broken into layers when solving. First solve a "+" on top, then the corners are put in place, then the middle layer is put together, then finally the bottom layer is solved, solving the cube.

This is the beginners look on solving the cube. An advanced cuber solves for the corners and the middle layer at the same time. This takes much more effort and thinking, but once accustomed to it, it becomes vary easy. Get Ready to embark onto a journey of the mind....
